History of the College of the Immaculate Conception. Volume V

On Wednesday, August 3, celebrating 401 years of the College of the Immaculate Conception, was presented the volume V of the book of the History of the College written by P. William Furlong sj. Volume was digitized faithfully unpublished from the author's original manuscripts, which are located in the historical record of our school.

The work of P. Furlong sj., Starting from Volume I, covers since 1610 and makes a neat chronological sequence of events in the College of the Immaculate Conception, on the central work of the various bodies. Volume V completes the work of P. Furlong sj. member of the National Academy of History and gives meaning to the previous volumes.

Specifically, the volume V contains all the institutions that complete the Apostolic Work Education and the Society of Jesus in Santa Fe In it the author has gathered in 31 chapters, the permanent in the life of the College, as the building's history (from the relocation of the city), the church and the sacristy, the Patio de los Naranjos, the origin and evolution of the Ateneo Immaculate. But along with the permanent, are institutions that play an important role at a particular time, for example the Theological Seminary, the Academy of Literature, University College, the Free Institute of Humanities, the fifth of Picket, the Marian Congregation. It also relates to sports, games and gymnastics, the observatory, the music and the band.

In the event, which was attended by government authorities of the Province, the Municipality and the local Church, refer to the publication, and terpene Jorge José Luis Narvaja PR sj. and Julio Cesar Fernandez Techera sj. Each from a different perspective of the person spoke P. Furlong SJ, of the importance of this work for religious history, cultural and social de Santa Fe and institutions, the importance and significance for the College of the Immaculate Conception, the oldest in the country.

In the second stage was performed a musical tribute to alumnus Carlos Guastavino, where Prof. José Manuel Echagüe and Polyphonic Choir performed works in the province of his own.
