College Observatory

The Immaculate College Observatory

Antigua foto del Observatorio del Colegio

While the College has carried out some observations and measurements, is the Father Enrique Capelletti, its first director, who in 1882 organized by the Observatory and systematic actions initiated in May of that year.

In designing the present building of the College, whose foundation stone was placed in 1907, initially estimated that the observatory should remain in its original place, but in 1918 to jumpstart the front end "on the net", which involving the construction of a floor to cap, we generated an area particularly suited for the tasks of the Observatory, which was painted by Brother Camps with Egyptian motifs, achieving a unique space in the city for originality in its design and rigor in treatment.
